Thanks for sharing, Ingrid. :) I know the method is sort of a hack, but I love it and I'm glad it's been useful to someone else.

You saved my day. I use BibDesk but have no need for LyX (AFAIK!). After recently reinstalling BibDesk I realized I had lost my Chicago export template, and the link to it online was dead. After wasting a few hours trying to write my own, I found your post and tried the Zotero method. I dragged my needed BibDesk items to Zotero and output a flawless Chicago reference list in a matter of minutes.

Yep. I personally don't use pocket sizes, but I think the pocket size Pentalic is only slightly bigger than the pocket moleskine.

Faced with the same problem, I've created a LyX template that adds an MLA-style "Works Cited" page from a BibTeX database.

http://wiki.neilandtheresa.co.uk/LyX_MLA_Template

There are two versions - one that just adds an MLA bibliography, and one that formats the whole document to the MLA style.

Thanks for stopping by Michael. I had no idea you would discover this post, and I appreciate that you took the time to offer feedback.

That's a good point about Grimm and Andersen—I was probably wrong to include them in my list. As for the counseling groups that use the book, even a quick run through the Amazon.com reviews will show how many people do not think the book appropriate for children.

Whether those people are right is a different question, and I still think that the book's focus on one's own feelings is not a healthy response to any kind of emotional trouble. But if I'm wrong about that (and you are much more of an expert than I am), I still think we can agree that some books deal with topics in a way more appropriate for adults than children, and other books help people escape issues rather than deal with them at all.

And I think you'll find that plenty of the Grimms' and HC Andersen stories use unresolved and/or vengeful endings that aren't necessarily any more or less appropriate. 'Red Shoes'? 'Little Match Girl'? 'Snow White'????
